Tuesday 18 May
Courtesy bus from Frankfurt International Airport to Dorint Hotel, Bad Dürkheim.
Registration
Welcome Dinner, followed by talk introducing Germany, the German language & the tour.
Wednesday 19 May
Vineyard tour, a little wine-tasting and lunch
Freinsheim - guided tour of medieval town
Bad Dürkheim - free time to explore some of the town
Dinner, followed by talk on migration from the Pfalz
Thursday 20 May
Speyer, including guided tours of the Dom (cathedral) and the Pfalz museum
Dinner inside Germany's largest wine barrel
Friday 21 May
Visit to the Hohenlohe region, which is twinned with County Limerick, including visits to Kloster Schöntal, Hohenloher Freilandmuseum and the town of Schwäbisch Hall.
Saturday 22 May
Schwetzingen castle, gardens, market and town.
Walk through the town and vineyards of Rhodt
Dinner followed by talk on the Palatines in Ireland
Sunday 23 May
Assenheim, original home of the Switzer family.
Nothing survives from prior to 1709, but the village has promised us a warm welcome, including a church service, farm visit, traditional coffee & cake buffet and an organ recital.
Monday 24 May
Burg Lichtenberg - guided tour of castle and museums
Walk through Bad Dürkheim, followed by a wine cellar tour and dinner with entertainment.
Tuesday 25 May
Landau town and market
Choice of guided tour - either Trifels Castle or Annweiler Museum
Wine tasting and entertainment
Wednesday 26 May
Heidelberg, including guided tour of the town and castle
Cruise on the River Neckar
Farewell Dinner
Thursday 27 May
Breakfast and farewells
Courtesy bus to Frankfurt International Airport
