Name: Sally Foster
Location: Solon, Maine, U.S.A.

Comments: I am looking to find the parents of John A. Tuscan b. abt 1787 in Ma. U.S.A. He lived all of his life in Bingham , Me. until his death on Feb. 25, 1862, His wife Nancy died 1864 in Bimgham, Maine also. We have been told we are Italian, French, German for some. He has been very rare in name to search for. In earliest references to him, he was a Hog Reeve, and School Agent and superintentdent in Bingham. Towm meetings were held at his house at times. It was written John "Tuskin" in the Bingham records we saw.. the only ones we we saw.. and are unable to know if there is more right now.. but we have looked for 2o years.. but he was called Tuskin from 1814 and 1818 at least and later his name was called Tuscan. Not we are not sure if the earlier ref. were misspellings of his name or he actually wrote it like that. I am seeking any and all information about Tuscans. .. to see where we came from. I found the name Tuskin on your website.. a Jacob Tuskin. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sal ...my email is: saltuscanfoster@yahoo.com

Name: Kevin Franklin, Historian, Town of Colonie
Location: Colonie, New York, U.S.A.

Comments: Seeking information on a Frederick J. Switzer, proprietor of the Elm Grove Hotel along the Albany and Schenectady (NY) Turnpike Road. Elm Grove was run by the family of Leland Stanford (Stanford University line)who resided in the township of Watervliet (now Colonie) in the 19th. Century. Property records show that Switzer did not own the property but leased it and I have a great interest in locating any relatives. Circa 1900 photo shows what may be the proprietor (Switzer) standing on the front porch wearing suspenders and a bow tie similar to that of what a bar tender would wear. Sorry I can't use municipal funds to join your society, but any information you may have on Switzer family, possibly related to Polk's and Lundergan families would be appreciated. Name: Richard Shibles
Location: Ames, Iowa, USA

Comments: My only confirmed connection to Ireland is Elizabeth Kilpatrick, who emigrated from Coleraine, Ulster to America with her three brothers in about 1730. He son, John Shibles, was born in Pemaquid, Maine in 1732. It is speculated that her husband's name was Johann Scheibels who was born in An Bothar Bui (Enfield), Co. Meath about 1700 (http://www.sprague-database.org/genealogy). There exists no trace of John Shibles' father in the USA. I am curious as to whether any Palatines were in Co Meath in the 1730s and if so whether there is any record of a Johann Scheibels.

Comments: I'm not sure if the Line of Irish Palatine descent is going to show in the comment area so forgive me for repeating myself.

My great-grandfather Tobias Ruttle was born i Limmerick County, I believe around 1831. Tobias, his wife, and young children came to the United States (Philadelphia) in the early 1871. Tobias' son, John, is my great-grandfather was also born in Ireland.

Does anyone have anyone have any information? Also, I've printed out the information to become a member. Once I mail the information to become a member. How do I get the log-in info needed to get into the members only area?

Thanks.

Comments: After reading about the Palatine Irish, stories my great aunt told about her mother's childhood make sense. There was never any hint that Harriet had German ancestry.
